As reported by the Courier Times, more than 760 registered nurses at St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown will take to the picket line at 7am on November 17th, barring union negotiators striking a deal with Trinity Health. PASNAP is planning this as a “symbolic action designed to call attention to the issues nurses are raising, specifically the minimum safe staffing levels.”
As socialists, we stand in solidarity with the nurses who have risked their health working on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic while Trinity Health refuses to address staffing and patient safety concerns. St. Mary nurses are some of the lowest paid in the region, despite the hospital being one of Trinity’s most profitable.
Join us on the picket line with PASNAP nurses this Tuesday through Saturday for strike support! Don’t forget your mask and feel free to bring coffee, water, donuts, pizza, or snacks if you can.
